Gun Statistics
Gun violence is a daily occurrence in the United States. Firearms are responsible for over 30,896 deaths in America a year. For the year 2007, blacks represented 13 percent of the population yet accounted for 49 percent of all homicide victims. Eighty-two percent of the 7,387 black homicide victims were killed with guns. Gun violence affects nearly 50% of the children in America, either as victims or witnesses. More people in varying communities across the country are feeling less safe as the push by the NRA for normalization of weapons in our daily lives continues:
