MAKE A DIFFERENCE TODAY: Volunteer with WAGV

Volunteers are the lifeline of our success. We appreciate your interest in helping us. We have a range of opportunities to become involved with our organization. Volunteers can work directly in the community to educate others on the issue, help campaign for sensible gun laws, raise money or support for our programs, or simply give time to help us fulfill our day-to-day activities. All volunteers will receive detailed instructions and work under close supervision of experienced staff members.

If you are interested in volunteering with WAGV, please take a look at our Volunteeer Opportunities below and download our Volunteer Information Sheet (pdf). If you have any questions, please contact us at (310) 204-2348 or wagv@wagv.org.

We currently need volunteers in the following areas:

Community Outreach Volunteers:

WAGV is looking for motivated individuals who are interested in promoting messages of safety and nonviolence in communities throughout LA County. WAGV is looking for individuals who have experience in public speaking and/or public relations. Volunteers will be working closely with staff at community fairs and other promotional venues to distribute informational brochures and inform the public on our organization and activities. Volunteers will also assist in the coordination of community events, speaking engagements and organizational contacts. Volunteers who are bilingual in English and Spanish are highly desired.

Legislative Advocacy Volunteers:

WAGV is looking for driven individuals who are interested in advocating for victims of gun violence and sensible gun legislation. WAGV is searching for individuals who have a love for politics or public safety, who have experience in public speaking and excellent writing skills. Volunteers will participate in writing campaigns to inform local legislators of the importance of our priority bills. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to attend city council meetings and meet our survivors who often testify on behalf of our legislative priorities. Finally, volunteers will aid staff by researching other gun violence prevention organizations, national and international, and their advocacy efforts.

Clerical/ Research Volunteers:

WAGV is looking for volunteers who can help us with office responsibilities including copying, filing and correspondences. WAGV is searching for individuals with strong writing skills, typing skills and experience in clerical settings. Volunteers will be asked to contact local partners for WAGV activities and assist with the tracking of our programmatic activities. They will also have the opportunity to expand their research skills and assist in the maintenance of our statistical database, research references and victims resources.
